Tanja Busse is a German journalist, author and moderator who specialises in agriculture, ecology and sustainability. She studied journalism and philosophy in the University of Dortmund, Bochum and at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. Following a traineeship at WDR and completing her doctorate in 2000, she worked as an editor at WDR before becoming a freelance journalist in 2003. Her work has appeared in the „Süddeutsche Zeitung“, „Die Zeit“ and „Der Freitag“.
Tanja is the author of several notable books, including „Die Wegwerfkuh“ (The Throw Away Cow) published by Blessing in 2015, and the „Das Sterben der anderen“ which deals with biodiversity loss, and in 2021 „Fleischkonsum. 33 Fragen und Antworten“ was published by Piper.
She co-edited the essay collection „Welche Rechte braucht die Natur?“, which explores the rights of nature, with Frank Adloff. She also co-authored „Der Grund. Die neuen Konflikte um unsere Böden – und wie sie gelöst werden können“ with Christiane Grefe, which addresses the need to protect our soils.
Tanja regularly moderates public events and contributes to the national discourse on sustainability and environmental policy.
